The best residential new construction inspection program for you

All new construction homes in Indiana must pass Indiana Energy Code requirements. To meet code, builders must complete a residential new construction inspection — and TSI Energy Solutions makes it simple.

Our inspectors have decades of experience, and we’re up to date on the latest code requirements. We offer four different inspection programs for builders. Here’s the rundown on what each program includes, so you can choose the best option for your project.

Basic Code Program

Our Basic Code Program includes two basic inspections to help builders meet Indiana Energy Code requirements.

What you get:

  • Pre-drywall inspection
  • Final inspection
  • Code documentation

We complete the first inspection after exterior wall insulation and before drywall. We come back to complete the second inspection at the end of the build. After these inspections, you’ll have the documentation you need to meet code.

HERS Program

Our HERS Program includes the same code inspections as the Basic Code Program, plus additional benefits. This program is our most popular.

What you get:

  • Pre-drywall inspection
  • Detailed pre-drywall inspection report with photos
  • Final inspection
  • Code documentation
  • HERS Index rating

Your pre-drywall inspection comes with a detailed digital report to make it easier to implement improvements. We mark issues discovered during the inspection on a PDF of the plans and include photo documentation and recommendations.

At your end-of-build inspection, we complete a HERS® Index rating of the home. The HERS Index is one number that represents the home’s energy efficiency — it’s a simple way for builders to market energy efficiency and for homebuyers to compare efficiency between homes.

HERS Plus Program

Our HERS Plus Program includes the benefits of the standard HERS Program, with two additional inspection points.

What you get:

  • Rough mechanical stage inspection
  • Pre-drywall inspection
  • Detailed pre-drywall inspection report with photos
  • Final inspection
  • Infrared scan at final inspection
  • Code documentation
  • HERS Index rating

We do the rough mechanical stage inspection early in the home building process, before insulation goes in. This extra inspection helps pinpoint major areas of improvement at a time in the build when making changes is easier and more cost-effective. And, our inspectors are able to identify problem areas that would most likely be hidden to them after the walls are insulated.

At your final inspection, we do an infrared scan of all interior walls and ceilings. This nondestructive test is a simple way to make sure no major issues with insulation and sealing were overlooked during construction.

ThermoShield Program

Our ThermoShield Program is our most comprehensive new construction inspection program. We recommend it for home builders who pride themselves on attention to quality, and this program has the potential to significantly reduce or even eliminate comfort and efficiency-related warranty calls after closing.

What you get:

  • Rough mechanical stage inspection
  • Comprehensive ThermoSeal package
  • Pre-drywall inspection
  • Detailed pre-drywall inspection report with photos
  • Final inspection
  • Infrared scan at final inspection
  • Code documentation
  • HERS Index rating
  • Marketing materials for potential homebuyers

We start the ThermoSeal process before wall insulation is installed and complete it after drywall is installed. It includes hot water pipe insulation and electrical box gaskets, air and duct sealing post-drywall, and other energy-saving measures.
